Doesn’t get much more Minnesota than this

We have a new DNC chair, Ken Martin!

I’ve known Ken for a long time. He led the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party in Minnesota with clear direction for over a decade, and I know he’ll bring that same steady, smart leadership to the DNC.

Ken is a Minneapolis native, the son of a single mother, and the first kid in his family to earn a college degree. He got his start as an intern on Paul Wellstone’s 1990 Senate campaign. When talking about expanding the Democratic map, he says stuff like, “Skate where the puck will be, not where the puck is.” It doesn’t get much more Minnesota than that.

And if you know Minnesotans, you know we don’t sit on our hands. We’re constantly in motion. In the winter, you’ll see people shoveling when it’s still snowing. That’s called “getting out ahead of it” and it is the attitude and work ethic Ken’s going to bring to the DNC.

Ken has built coalitions, organized communities, and helped win countless tough races in Minnesota. In fact, the DFL has an undefeated statewide record since he took over in 2011. And in 2022, the party secured a trifecta in the legislature and the governor’s office for the first time in a decade. These wins empowered Democrats to pass progressive policies: abortion rights, paid family medical leave, sick leave, a tax credit for low-income parents with kids, investments in affordable housing and rental assistance, and free breakfast and lunch for all K-12 students.

That’s a long list — and it doesn’t even cover all of it, but it’s the kind of work Ken and the DFL have done that’s directly impacted the lives of Minnesotans.

Ken will rally our party and lead us to victory in the fights ahead.

He can’t do it on his own though. MVP is doubling down on Ken’s efforts to help Democrats win at every level across the country. And your contributions support that work.

Al

P.S. Over the years, MVP has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to the DFL to help them win tough races in Minnesota that have led to all those progressive policies getting enacted. Policies that demonstrated to other states what is possible! Just in case you need a reminder of what your dollars can do!!
