Have I mentioned Texas?

Last week I wrote to you about Nebraska’s Independent candidate for Senate, Dan Osborn. Good news — Dan still has Fischer on the ropes.

Even better news: There’s another Senate race with a Democratic challenger within striking distance. I think it’s time I mention Texas.

I’ve written to you about Colin Allred before, but in case you missed it: Allred is a three-term House member, civil rights lawyer, and former NFL player. Not a lot of those!

Colin’s polling is neck-and-neck with Cruz, with recent polls showing Colin just one point behind — well within the margin of error. That means Allred has a real shot at winning this thing, and with the election only 17 days away, he needs all the support possible to get folks on the doors to turn out the vote.

Colin and Cruz debated earlier this week. One of Allred’s many star-turn moments happened when Cruz danced around a question of abortion. You see, for years Cruz touted his extreme beliefs on restricting abortion access, but over the past year, he’s actually gotten rather quiet about it. Texas’ draconian law has caused harm to thousands of Texans, yet Cruz has called it “perfectly reasonable.” Watch Allred’s perfect takedown here.

Candidates like Colin give me hope.

P.S. There are so many other Senate seats on the line, too! Midwest Values PAC is dedicated to doing everything we can through November 5th to support Democrats across the country.

P.P.S. And as I’ve said — I always liked Ted Cruz more than my colleagues liked Ted Cruz, and I hate Ted Cruz.
