Progressives: The Next Generation
For decades, corporate money has helped fuel conservative causes and train conservative activists. What’s one way we can fight back and organize?
After the tragic deaths of Paul and Sheila Wellstone in 2002, Wellstone Action was created as a national center for training and leadership development for the next leaders of the progressive movement. Since its start in January of 2003, Wellstone Action has trained nearly 10,000 progressives, and has a membership of over 100,000. The non-profit organization also lobbies on behalf of the causes Paul Wellstone championed: mental health parity, protection of Social Security, and domestic violence awareness.
An integral part of Wellstone Action is its training program, called Camp Wellstone. It’s a weekend-long program that teaches activists grassroots organizing, electoral organizing, progressive public policy and ethical leadership. Indeed, much of our electoral gains in 2006, 2008, and beyond will be from the hard work of Camp Wellstone activists.
Camp Wellstone is now accepting applications for camps in the following areas:

• 3/9 – 3/10: Camp Sheila Wellstone: Raleigh, NC
• 3/10 – 3/12: Camp Wellstone: Cleveland, OH
• 3/10 – 3/11: Campus Camp Wellstone: University of Michigan
• 3/10 – 3/11: Campus Camp Wellstone: College of St. Catherine (MN)
• 3/24 – 3/26: Camp Wellstone: Boise, ID
• 3/24 – 3/25: Campus Camp Wellstone: Madison
• 3/31 – 4/1: Campus Camp Wellstone: Augsburg College, MN
• 4/7 – 4/9: Camp Wellstone: Arizona
• 4/21 – 4/22: Campus Camp Wellstone: University of Hawai’i at Manoa
• 5/5 – 5/7: Camp Wellstone: Colorado

I am also disabled, and can’t get around as much as I’d like. But, I can talk real good to mah friends and neighbors about taking back this here country from the BlunderBush corporate hegemony. Gall darn it!

I have one queston to the fool who wrote the short liberal diatribe at the top. Just who the hell do you think writes most of the payroll checks in this country outside of the government (translate my money) Think about that the next time you want to take a shot at big business. When was the last time you were employed by a poor person? All I ask is you think a little before opening up your yap. Let’s see if a few corporations contrubute to camp Wellstone and if they do are you going to give the money back. Bet not.
